about

This is the second album recorder by Smiling Strange. We are a set of brothers from Massachusetts who have lived in separate states for a couple years now. Whenever we get together we push record on whatever devices we have laying around and play whatever comes out. One of the brothers likes lo-fi music, so bought a sony Reel to Reel recording device that he thinks is from the 60's. He will look it up later. We use this device, termed "The Box", for most of the recordings.

The idea is that this album be played as a cassette tape, so there are only 2 sides, no songs. This is intentional, and hopefully you will see why upon listening.

The Madison Boulder is the largest known glacial erratic in New England, and among the largest in the world. Madison Boulder is a huge granite rock measuring 83 feet (25 m) in length, 23 feet (7.0 m) in height above the ground, and 37 feet (11 m) in width. It weighs upwards of 5,000 tons. A part of this roughly rectangular block is buried, probably to a depth of ten to twelve feet. It is located at a state park in the northwest part of town.

Music, because of the internet, is essentially free. So feel free to guilt free not-pay for this. If you would like a cassette of the album, please email me and I'll ship one out.
